This site is about empowering you to use the internet and free software to build a phone system that does what you want it to do.

There is a lot of information about setting up a PBX with asterisk online, but it’s often scattered, out-of-date (referring to ancient software versions) and generally assumes that you’ve been hacking around with phone systems for years.

Not long ago, I was a PBX newbie. I remember my basic misconceptions and stumbling points around setting up a fully-functional PBX. This site has been designed to make it easy to pick up the required terminology and concepts to get you going quickly.

There is advertising on the site – which I hope highlights useful companies. If you want to support pbxer – follow the links from the ads on the site and pbxer will get a bit of money to pay the bills.
